Gettin' Fine in '09: Week 5

I can't believe it is already week 5! I have been a slacker in getting my post up, but have been so busy lately. I have done really well so far. I didn't lose any weight this week, but I lost 3 last week, so I am not upset about it at all. And I only worked out 2 times this week. I did the Wave early in the week, and yesterday I went to the Y and did an hour of cardio. I am pretty much eating the same as I was before. I eat the same breakfast everyday, and usually the same lunch, dinner is where I seem to struggle. For breakfast I eat a mixture of cheerios and fiber 1 cereal with fresh strawberries and skim milk. For lunch I usually eat soup, healthy choice or progresso light, and dinner is random. For some reason I don't like planning out a menu, so I just buy frozen chicken and frozen vegetables so I have an easy dinner to prepare. Here is a recipe of a yummy soup that I have been making alot this winter, and you can substitute the beef with chicken for a lighter version! Good luck to you all this week!

Taco Soup

1 pd. ground beef
1 can green chiles
1 pkt. taco seasoning
1 (15oz) can kernel corn
1 (15oz) can pinto beans
1(15oz) can Grn. Beans
1 (10oz) can Rotel w/ chilies
1 pkt. ranch dressing (dry mix)
1 (5oz) can tomato juice

Brown beef, drain grease. Mix taco seasoning and ranch packet with beef. Drain corn and beans before adding to the pot. Combine all ingredients and bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Serve with shredded cheddar and sour cream. YUMMY!!!

Gettin' Fine in '09: Week 2

This week has been LONG. But, I have maintained my focus and worked out 5 days this week. I did the Wave 3 times, and did cardio 2 times. My hubby and I decided to join the YMCA. We got signed up on Tuesday night, and worked out Thursday night and this morning (Saturday). I am going to try and stick to my Wave workouts at home, and do cardio (treadmill, elliptical, random cardio machines) at the Y.

So Thursday night, in addition to the cardio, I decided that I would do some leg exercises while I waited for hubby to finish his workout. I chose the leg press machine, and was trying to figure out how much weight I would be able to do. I remembered that when I had worked out with a personal trainer I had been able to lift ALOT of weight. I turned the dial to 175#, it wasn't too difficult, so I turned it to 200#, it was more challenging. Then, my hubby walks up and says he thinks I could do more, so I turned the dial to 220#. BIG mistake! I finished all the reps, but I am paying for it now!!! My hamstrings are so tight that I can barely walk. So, please learn from my story and don't push yourself too hard when you are trying different exercises.

Back to the purpose of this post, Gettin' Fine in '09...

I haven't done so well with keeping track of what I am eating, or why I am eating. But, I have done well with the workouts as I said in the beginning of this post. So without further ado, I lost 2 pounds this week! Yeah! I am hoping that since I am adding cardio to the wave workouts that I will have another loss next week. So how did everyone else do? Good luck to you all next week!

Gettin' Fine in '09: Week 1

Nothing exciting to report this week, my weight hasn't budged a pound! I am still adjusting to my new work schedule. The first of January, I started working Tues/Thurs during the day while the kids go to MDO, and I close on Wednesday nights. So I haven't been getting my workouts in on Tues/Thurs. I will try next week to at least do some form of exercise on those days. I am really enjoying The Wave though, and look forward to the results. I need to work on my diet also, and limit the sweets. My biggest temptations are Mexican food, soft drinks (mostly diet), and any kind of chocolate! Here are some pictures of me from the beginning of October and the beginning of January.

January '09

I won't be posting my weight, but I will say I am about halfway to my goal. Here are my measurements from November & January.

November

  • Under Bust- 34"
  • Nat. Waist- 32"
  • Hips- 45"
  • Thigh- 25"

January

  • Under Bust- 33.5"
  • Nat. Waist- 30.5"
  • Hips- 42.5"
  • Thigh- 24"

Next month, I will be weaning my daughter (she will be turning 1 on March 24th!) off breastfeeding, so I am hoping that will help me lose a few more pounds, too. My doctor said that when you are nursing, your body tends to hold on to a couple of extra pounds. I am really happy with my results so far, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I honestly never thought I would be back to this weight again, so I am feeling more confident about reaching my goal. Good luck to everyone participating! I look forward to reading about how you all are doing as well.

Nothing too exciting to report this week, my weight didn't budge one pound! But, it didn't go up either. :) I am really excited about a new workout that I am starting this week (if I'm not too busy eating my birthday cake). My hubby got me the new Wave system from The Firm. I'll let you know how I like it, it looks like fun!

Coco Bonbons Sale

One of my favorite clothing lines for children is having a huge sale on their fall 2008 collection. Check out their blog for details! http://cocobonbonsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/

Happy Birthday Hayden!

Three years ago today, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Hayden Wyatt. He weighed 8.6 and was 19.5" long. He was born one week before my birthday, what a wonderful gift! Here are some pictures of him from the last few years. Enjoy!

Just a few hours old!

Photo therapy for jaundice (2 days old)

We had to take Hayden back to the hospital after he has spent only one night at home with us, it was really scary! Luckily, the photo therapy worked for him, and we got to stay in the room with him for two days. He is going to tan really well some day!

About 2 weeks old, I LOVE this pic!

6 Months

12 Months

18 Months

2 Years

2.5 Years

Such a proud big brother, he loves holding his "Sissy" aka "My Baby"

3 Years!!!

It is so hard to believe that my baby is already 3 years old! Time really does fly when you have children. We are so proud of Hayden and of how well he transitioned this year when Addison joined our family. Yes, we have our days, but overall we are all very happy and feel so blessed to be a healthy, loving family!

Final Fit Friday!

I am happy to report that I lost a total of 11 pounds since Hot for the Holidays began! Also, I lost 4% body fat, one dress size, and 4 inches off my waist. I have been getting alot of compliments from friends and family about my weight loss. I don't have a picture from today, but here is one from Christmas time... The first picture is the best I could find of where I started. You can tell a big difference, but the grey top has an empire waist, so it almost looks like it is a maternity top (I promise it is not, I donated all of my maternity clothes to Goodwill!).
Thanks, Missy for starting this, it definitely made it more fun to have some accountability and to see how everyone else is doing with their weight loss. The only thing I could come up with for the new name would be "Looking Fine in 2009". I don't know about y'all, but I will surely be trying to be fine in '09!
